    Why would you /want/ to let her out? Streets are not the only risk to cats allowed to roam freely outdoors.

    How about keeping your cat safely indoors? It'll be much healthier for your cat to be indoors where it's safe from poisons, loose dogs, other cats, cars, wild animals, malicious people… and so on (the list of dangers is quite long). Indoor cats live much longer, healthier lives than outdoor or indoor/outdoor cats and it's very possible to have a happy, well entertained indoor cat. It's also entirely possible to train a cat to walk on a harness/leash for safe outdoor trips. Read more on why indoor is better as well as how to make a safe outdoor enclosure for indoor cats:

    Edit: Like Percy said, is the courtyard enclosed enough that she can't get out of it and nothing can get in?

    I love Balinese. I lost my precious Bianca a year ago after 18 years. If you go to “Frankie Begs For Treats” you’ll see her in the kitchen next to Frankie. She was a beauty. Can’t find Balinese around here anymore. Do you know who raises them? Not that I should get one, I have 9 indoor cats now, all but 1 are rescues or saves. I guess you can tell I love cats.

    Sadly we cannot control the actions of other people, and that some people will take in a "stray" that is attractive and friendly is one of the risks in allowing a cat to roam free. You make no mention of the steps you have taken to find your cat. Here is the U.S. Humane Society's webpage of suggestions of what to do to search for a lost pet, in case there are some steps that you have not yet thought of.

    The one you describe is a dilute,and yes, rare. Watch out for health issues. Mostly skin issues and digestive problems. In any case, you can probably get one for $800 or in that neighborhood. Get Cat Fancy magazine and start combing the ads and also visit the websites of various catteries. Just be careful. You probably will NOT be able to get the papers unless you sign a spay/neuter contract.

    @Sharoncat2008
    My Balinese died recently too! My dad got her from a poker buddy when I was just 11 years old. She was seriously the most beautiful cat. I only have one other cat now who actually became depressed after my “muffin” passed, and lost 2lbs.
